Houston, TX, June 2, 2021 — The Cannon, an online entrepreneurial hub with physical workspace destinations across Houston, has renewed its partnership with Black Girl Ventures. Black Girl Ventures provides social and financial capital to fund and scale tech-enabled businesses that have annual revenue below $1M and were founded by Black/Brown female-identifying entrepreneurs.

This continued partnership allows the Black Girl Ventures community access to Cannon Connect, The Cannon’s entrepreneurial toolkit and online networking platform. Additionally, the Change Agents who lead the Houston Chapter of Black Girl Ventures will receive access to The Cannon @ The Energy Corridor, The Cannon’s West Houston entrepreneurial community space, to host their nine-month leadership skills development program, the Change Agent Fellowship.

Lawson Gow, Founder and President of The Cannon, says the company is thrilled about this continued partnership with Black Girl Ventures, stating, “Entrepreneurs should be able to get connected to the resources that they need to grow...Because of our partnership, the entire Black Girl Ventures community will be able to access these resources online, anytime, from wherever they are.”

About the continued partnership, Black Girl Ventures Founder, Shelly Bell, said, “Our partnership with The Cannon has allowed us to foster and grow our communities in Houston, contributing to the local ecosystem, while helping to deepen our mission of providing access to capital, community, and capacity for Black and Brown women-identifying founders in the area.”

Bell’s response went on to highlight the relationship’s benefits in relation to the disastrous winter storm this February, saying of The Cannon, “They are key partners in our local building-community efforts, as well as in providing relief for Black-owned businesses during unforeseen circumstances, such as the storm waves that affected the area early this year.”
