HOUSTON, (April 9, 2019) – Mike T. Brown is coming home, and he’s bringing his fast-growing startup with him.
Win-Win, a tech startup that links fans with the charitable causes of their favorite athletes through a gamified donation platform, is relocating to Houston and moving into
The Cannon, a west-Houston based entrepreneurial hub. Win-Win will also enter The
Cannon’s Venture Studio, gaining access to mentors, resources, and fundraising opportunities while it continues to scale the fast-growing platform.
Win-Win, which Brown started in 2016, has already raised $1.2M from top investors including Duke University and Silicon Valley based Sand Hill Angels and 500 Startups. Win-Win is now beginning to scale operations ahead of its upcoming full-scale launch during the 2019 NFL football season. Win-Win has recently opened up its second round of funding, including an equity crowdfunding campaign hosted on the Republic platform.
Winding Path Returns to Houston
Brown grew up in Houston, attending Alief Taylor High School before eventually heading east to play football at Duke University. Brown excelled at Duke, earning two-time All-American honors as well as a Public Policy degree after graduating in just three and a half years. Following a four-year career playing professionally, including linebacker for the Indianapolis Colts, Brown taught himself how to code, moved to Silicon Valley and gained valuable experience working on the mid-market growth team at Kiip, a $32M venture backed mobile advertising startup.
“I couldn’t be more excited about returning to Houston to become a part of the city’s tech revolution,” stated Mike T. Brown, Win-Win founder. “After visiting The Cannon, I immediately felt the energy and have witnessed their commitment to pushing Houston’s tech startup movement. I can’t wait to get fully plugged into the city’s ecosystem, to start hiring local talent and raising money from local investors.”
Houston’s SportsTech Growth Continues
“Houston has long needed better entrepreneurial resources to stop our startups from leaving for greener pastures, and we are excited to be part of the local entrepreneurial growth over the last couple of years, helping to provide a landing spot for a young, growing company like Win-Win,” echoed The Cannon’s Founder and CEO, Lawson Gow. “On top of that, Houston is extremely well-positioned to be the home for sports-tech startups, and Mike moving back can be a great catalyst towards continuing to establish our city as a sports-tech hub.”
Win-Win is expected to move to Houston and into The Cannon later this summer. For more information on Win-Win, and to learn about their current equity crowdfunding opportunity, visit http://bit.ly/2uQWKwN.
