Cannon Ventures and Rice Angel Network Team Up To Invest in Houston-Based Startups

[Houston, Texas | March 22, 2019] In a partnership with The Cannon, The Houston-based Rice Angel Network (RAN) announced today that it will be powered by Cannon Ventures, the investment arm of The Cannon. The alignment will augment efforts of the two groups to provide local startups with access to the capital they need to grow. In late 2018, The Houston Investor Network Alliance (HINA) was launched as a commitment from four investor groups in Houston to increasingly co-invest and share deals in Houston. The partnership between RAN and The Cannon takes this a step further as they align missions of early-stage investments throughout Houston’s startup ecosystem.

“The mission is simple”, says CEO and Founder of Cannon Ventures and The Cannon Lawson Gow. “We want to bring Houston’s startup ecosystem the access to capital that they need to thrive here in Houston”.

Seconding the notion, Kyle Fletcher, Managing Partner of Rice Angel Network describes the partnership as necessary.
“Houston is one of the largest cities in the US, yet our efforts to bring capital to startups has been done only in pockets throughout the city. We are better together than we are separate.” Kyle Fletcher, Rice Angel Network Managing Partner
Both founders are Rice University Alumni and have rooted their desire to develop Houston’s entrepreneurial ecosystem amid both the campuses at The Cannon and Rice University.

Cannon Ventures will continue to host quarterly pitch nights at The Cannon, intended to bring investors to startup investment opportunities as well as advocate for entrepreneurship throughout Houston.New Paragraph
